ABUBAKAR LAWAL

Group Managing Director/CEO

Abubakar Lawal is the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of GTI. His wealth of experience in Finance and Investment Banking spans over twenty four years having worked for various institutions including City Code Trust Limited and Altrade Securities Limited. He has initiated and participated in various landmark capital market transactions in Nigeria. He graduated from The Polytechnic Ibadan with Higher National Diploma in Banking & Finance in 1988 and obtained his MBA degree from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi in 1999. Abubakar has adequate international trainings and exposure to his credit. Abubakar is an authorised dealing clerk of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS) and an associate member of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (ANIM). He currently serves on the board of National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) Plc and Wema Bank Plc. He had served as a Council member of the Nigerian Stock Exchange and the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers of Nigeria. Abubakar plays golf. He is happily married with children.

AFOLAKE LAWAL

Executive Director, Business Development

Afolake Lawal is a co-founder of the GTI Group. She is currently the Group Executive Director with Over 15 years wealth of experience in investment Banking, Corporate Governance and Business Strategy.

She is a certified pension Practioner and an Associate member of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria. (NIMN).

Mrs Lawal Afolake has an Upper Second Class (Hons) in Law (LLB) from Anglina Ruskin University, Cambridge U.K. She is an alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University and holds a Master Degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos. She also obtained a Master of Science in Corporate Governance and Finance from the Liverpool John Moores Univeristy in U.K.

She Serves on the Board of International Breweries Plc. And Eterna Plc. (both companies quoted on the Nigeria Stock Exchange). She is currently the chairman of International Breweries Plc, Governance and Remuneration Committee.

ADEBOYE ADEGBEMI

Executive Director, Finance and Accounts

Mr Adegbemi Adeboye (ACA, ACIB, ACPIN, ACS) is an Associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers of Nigeria. Mr. Adegbemi has over 20 years cognate experience in Finance/Banking industry. He joined GTI in 2006 to drive and apply his wealth of experience in Corporate Finance Unit of the company.

OLAWALE TIJANI

Group Head Risk Management & Audit

A graduate of Accountancy from Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Ogun State, he also holds a Masters degree in Banking & Finance from University of Ibadan. An Associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Wale has proven expertise in Financial Management, Auditing, Investigations, Operational Risk Management and Corporate Governance Compliance.

He is also a facilitator at the Financial Institution Training Center.

OMOTAYO AKAPO

Group Company Secretary/Legal Adviserl

Omotayo Akapo holds a Master of Laws (LLM) degree from Queen Mary, University of London specialising in Corporate/Commercial Law practice, Banking and Investment Law, Credit and Security Law and Media Law.

​

Tayo Akapo obtained her Barrister at Law (BL) from the Nigerian Law School with the call set of 2002 after obtaining a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree and Diploma in Law from Ogun State University.

​

A member of the Nigerian Bar Association and Federation of Women Lawyers, she has fifteen years of practice experience with various companies as In-house counsel.

​

First as In-house counsel with a commercial bank, as Legal Advisor with a vibrant Law Firm in London, as General Counsel/Legal Adviser of Communication Company and as an Associate Partner of a vibrant Law Firm before joining GTI as Group Company Secretary/Legal Adviser.
